The Chapel of Saint John Paul II was created after more than ten years of effort by local residents, the municipality of Loučka, the Zlín Region, and many other donors as an expression of gratitude for saving the village at the end of World War II, when Loučka was in imminent danger of being burned down and destroyed. We want to thank God for this miraculous rescue of our village and ancestors by building this chapel. It is also a place of remembrance, reconciliation, and hope for future generations.
The chapel is dedicated to Saint John Paul II, a figure who himself participated in the anti-Nazi resistance during World War II and later became one of the most prominent symbols of the struggle for freedom, human dignity, and reconciliation in modern European history.
The architectural design is by the renowned architect Josef Pleskot__. A distinctive feature of the chapel is the unique carillon of 40 bells from the bell-making workshop of Marie L. Dytrychová in Brodko u Přerova, which is one of the largest in the Czech Republic and Central Europe. Of particular significance is the Bell of Reconciliation__, which bears the names of all villages and settlements that were burned down in the territory of the Czech Republic. The dedication ceremony will also include an accompanying program – exhibitions, screenings, and concerts.
The dedication ceremony of the chapel will be led by Archbishop Josef Nuzík of Olomouc__, with the participation of representatives from religious, political, and social life. The dedication of the chapel will be broadcast live on TV Noe. Guests from Slovakia, Poland, Romania, Germany, and the USA will also attend the opening of the chapel.
